Sioux City's Water is considered hard due to the deep formations the water comes from.  Typical hardness in Sioux City’s water ranges from 350 mg/L to 550 mg/L depending on the different configurations of wells running at any given time. 

If you are installing a water softener, we recommend you follow the guidelines listed below.

• A good starting point is to set your softener at 24 Grains Per Gallon and then adjust to your individual liking.
• The iron setting should be .002 mg/L
