The City of Sioux City draws all of its water from groundwater sources utilizing both the deep Dakota sandstone aquifer and the shallower Missouri River alluvium formations. The City's well field consists of 7 vertical wells and 3 Ranney Collector Wells. These wells are capable of producing roughly 41 million gallons of water a day and are located in Chris Larsen Park, Riverside Park and South of Sioux Gateway Airport.
