The City of Sioux City Engineering Division is pleased to announce the opening of the Hamilton Boulevard Bridge south of 36th Street today, Monday, November 4, 2013. This project included the re-decking of the Hamilton Boulevard Bridge over Perry Creek just south of the 36th Street intersection. The bridge had been prioritized for improvements due to the condition of the bridge deck with over 60% delamination. The bridge was widened to have a 52 foot roadway with 4 lanes and a 5 foot sidewalk on the east side of the bridge.
These improvements were made possible thanks to the collaboration and support of the Iowa Department of Transportation and the City Council. The Hamilton Boulevard Bridge carries approximately 15,000 vehicles per day and is a critical arterial street extending into the north central section of the City.
