|Sgt. Road & S. Lakeport Holiday Shopping Traffic|

The Engineering Division, in an effort to assist the City’s retailers in the area of Sergeant Road and South Lakeport Street, have worked to develop a plan to suggest alternate routes to accommodate the anticipated traffic during this holiday shopping season.
The intersection at Sergeant Road and South Lakeport Street can handle the average daily peak traffic; however, traffic during the holiday shopping season is expected to exceed that amount. In past years holiday traffic exceeded the estimated traffic projections of 8,000 vehicles per hour during this peak season. It is expected, that along with the intersection of Sergeant Road & South Lakeport Street, the North Ramp & South Ramp intersections onto South Lakeport Street will experience delays due to congestion.
Therefore, the City recommends that shoppers consider alternate routes when visiting Lakeport Commons, Southern Hills Mall, Target, Lowes and the many other fine retailers in this area. This press release includes a map highlighting alternate routes from the major arterials located near these shopping centers, including US-20 and I-29 (via Singing Hills Boulevard) to the shopping destinations.
Motorists are encouraged to include these potential delays when planning their trips and to use caution and patience when traveling through this area.
