State Judo Championships to be Held at
Long Lines Family Rec. Center
The Iowa Judo Championships will be held at the Long Lines Family Recreation Center, 401 Gordon Drive, on Saturday, November 9, 2013. No spectator fee will be charged.
Judo is an exciting, dynamic sport involving throws and pins for children and including chokes and joint locks for adults. Competition will take place in forms (kata) and technique in addition to fighting (shiai).
Registration will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with kata and junior technique competition beginning at 11:30 a.m. Master’s (over age 30) shiai competition will begin at noon. Junior (ages 5 to 16) shiai will commence after the completion of the Master’s competition. Senior (age 17-30) shiai competition will be held immediately following the end of junior shiai competition.
The Sioux City Judo Club, a Parks and Rec. program, is hosting the event. Karen Mackey, sixth degree black belt, is the head instructor of the club. She is assisted by first degree black belt Ryan Allen.
