Sculpt Siouxland is pleased to announce that maps for Sculpt 2014-2015 outdoor sculpture project are now available. The maps show the location of 26 sculptures, 10 of which are new to this year’s exhibition.
Visitors to the downtown will find the maps on kiosks located at City Hall, the southeast corner of the Convention Center, the Sioux City Art Center, and the northwest corner of Nebraska and 4th Streets. The maps in brochure form are available at the four kiosks, as well as in the Art Center and the offices of Downtown Partners.
The map brochures include ballots to allow viewers to select their favorite new sculpture. Through November 1st, completed ballots can be brought to the Art Center. The winning sculptor will receive a cash award.
Jacki Kelly, president of Sculpt Siouxland, notes: “Voters are invited to browse the sculptures and pick their favorites. While the winning sculptor receives the People’s Choice Award, one randomly selected voter will also receive a prize.”
People visiting the sculpture exhibition in downtown will discover that Sculpt Siouxland continues to grow.
Al Harris-Fernandez, director of the Sioux City Art Center, says, “Through the partnership between Sculpt Siouxland and the Sioux City Art Center, the sculpture project has been able to expand its geographical borders with exciting new sculptures. As 3rd Street has become an increasingly important entry point into the downtown, Sculpt Siouxland has responded by installing several new sculptures along 3rd Street between Pierce and Douglas Streets.”
The 2014-2015 edition of Sculpt Siouxland will remain on display through June 2015.
